Clients Challenge:
A highly recognized and very busy mid-water trawl fishing net manufacturer in the Pacific Northwest was struggling consistently with one IT woe after another. Internal staff gave best effort to put out IT fires, but frustration was abound and staff productivity was continually being delayed.
The Solution:
Jerry collaborated with the CFO & Owner to assess the current network environment and how staff used their computers. Upon the results of the assessment Jerry provided some detailed reports of the current state of their business network and proposed some obvious and needed changes that could be implemented over a phased approach. A key move proved to be in migrating the business networked computers from ‘Workgroup’ mode to a Windows Active Directory environment, coupled with a appropriately sized Network Attached Storage device for storing their business critical data. These system adds improved personnel productivity immensely and became the needed start of moving from a break-fix IT environment to a system solutions environment. To top IT off, Jerry implemented his Managed IT Systems process along with his Business Continuity system, which ultimately brought all of the business computers and servers under one management window in which Jerry and his team are able to proactively manage their business network 24/7 and remotely connect to their network to perform maintenance and support assistance as needed. In the end, this brought the staff piece of mind and freed them up to focus and perform their relative job responsibilities and not worry about IT.
